Blog post #10 - Props used in the crime genre
In films, props can be used to show certain elements of a story and props can also be used to show specific details of certain characters. In crime genre films, many props are used throughout the film. Some props that a criminal would normally have in a crime genre film would be some sort of weapon. this weapon could be something like a gun or a knife or even an explosive.

After researching the website https://ellabrowna2media.weebly.com/costume-and-prop-conventions.html I was able to find more information about props used in the crime genre. Weapon props are used in crime genre films because criminals usually need weapons in order to commit the crime that they are trying to commit. In crime genres, since there are weapons, fake blood would usually be required in these type of films because without this fake blood, attacking someone with this weapon would look very unrealistic. In crime films a criminal also usually has a reason for committing a crime. This reason is usually for an item of value, which makes the film require a prop of items like money or jewelry in order to show the audience the criminals goal. In this genre, criminals may also be shown with props of drugs. This is used to show the audience that the criminals might sell drugs in order to make more money.
