Blog post #19- The history of the crime genre

The crime genre has had a big impact on films but what is the history of the genre? Like other genres, the crime genre has a history that makes the crime genre what it is today. I  researched the history of the crime genre on study.com and one of the pieces of information that I found about the history of the crime genre is that the crime genre started to gain popularity sometime in the 1800's.

In crime genre films, there is usually a crime that has been committed by a criminal. Most of the time the hero or protagonist of these crime genre films will usually find a way to find out who committed this crime in order to arrest them to stop them for committing any more of these crimes. There have been a lot of films throughout the years that have greatly impacted the crime genre. One example of a film that has had a big influence on the crime genre is "Scarface". Scarface is about how Tony Montana who came to Florida from Cuba became the biggest drug dealer in Miami and in the end dies to an assassin. This movie was a very popular movie that had a big influence on crime movies.

My film will contain these elements that are very commonly used throughout crime genre films. The crime that D.L committed will not come without consequences because the protagonist in my story (James) wants to stop D.L from committing any more crimes and wants D.L to get arrested and James will play a big role in getting D.L arrested.
