Blog post #26- Prop money in my project

While considering what props were needed for my film, I realized that I needed something in order to represent the valuables in James's house. I immediately thought of prop money because it represents money and one of the main reasons that criminals rob houses is to gain money. Prop money is usually used in films in order to represent a currency that is used in the setting of where the film takes place. Prop money is also more usable to use in films. What I mean by this is that in films sometimes money may be burned like in "The Dark Knight". The scene that contains this money being burnt wouldn't be possible to create with real money because it is illegal to burn real money. Since it is illegal to burn real money, filmmakers can use prop money in order to create scenes of money being burnt because it is not illegal to burn prop money.

The prop money that I will be using, from Amazon

In my film, the prop money that I will use will be stored in a briefcase inside of James's house. My reasoning for this is to emphasize the fact that this money is valuable to James given the fact that it is stored in a briefcase that will not be normally visible without attempting to find the briefcase. The prop money will be represented in my film as real money in order to show the audience that in my film, this money has value and can be used in order to purchase items.

During the film, the ownership of the prop money will change from James to D.L because during my film D.L will find James's briefcase while he is in his house and will then proceed to steal the briefcase from James which causes James to have an angered and revengeful mood.
