Would you like to preview an unreleased crime genre film?  

I’d be happy too! 

Ok sounds good! 

So, what is the name of the film going to be? 

The name of the film will be “The arrest of D.L: James’s Justice. 

Oh ok 

So here is the opening scene to the film.  

Now that you have watched the opening scene, are there any questions you would like answered about the film?  

Yes, I do, when producing this opening scene what reactions or emotions did you want the audience to experience?  

Ah that is a great question! As you saw within this opening sequence, I want my opening scene to have a very suspenseful effect within the audience. This suspenseful effect can be created from the audience not knowing if the owner of the house wakes up and realizes there was a break-in until the end of the opening scene. This isn’t the only thing that creates an environment of suspense though, at the end of the opening scene James is shown saying a line that shows he wants revenge against D.L, which builds up suspense within the audience because the audience will now think about the question “How will James stop D.L from committing crimes.” My usage of background music, also known as score, emphasizes the suspenseful environment.  

Yeah, a film in the crime genre should be very suspenseful so it can get the audience really interested. 

Another thing that I wanted to show the audience is that D.L is menacing. The way I wanted to achieve this was by using a camera angle that makes D.L look more menacing, given the fact that he is committing a crime. Now you may be asking what camera angle did I use? Well, the answer to this is a low camera angle. I used this angle because it makes D.L look more tough and menacing. By making D.L look very menacing, I wanted the audience to feel an emotion of fear from D.L given the fact that he is a very experienced criminal and is very dangerous.  

Oh, ok that makes a lot of sense! But I have one more question, where can I watch this film when it releases? 

It will first be shown in theatres for approximately 2 weeks and then a week after the film has left theatres it will be available to stream on platforms like Amazon prime video and Hulu.  

Alright, well then, I’ll be waiting for the film to be released so I can watch the whole thing and find out how James takes down this experienced criminal.
